1.12.2015
Washington, DC. – The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) and RCT Ventures announce that the 2015 finals of the MedTech Innovator competition, which identifies and rewards outstanding early-stage medical device companies, will take place at AdvaMed 2015: The MedTech Conference, October 5-7 in San Diego. The winners of MedTech Innovator 2015 will be selected by a vote of the AdvaMed 2015 audience and will compete for cash prizes sponsored by RCT Ventures and other industry partners.
MedTech Innovator is a venture competition and virtual accelerator, designed to identify and support innovative early-stage medical device companies. Throughout the year, outstanding early-stage medical device companies will be identified and vetted through a series of competitions and mentoring programs to win a place among 20 semi-finalists who will be recognized as the Top 20 MedTech Innovators of 2015. These companies will receive a scholarship for the Innovation Showcase and will be among the 48 innovative emerging growth medical device and diagnostic companies presenting at AdvaMed 2015.
These Top 20 MedTech Innovators of 2015 will compete to be selected among the four finalists vying for the audience vote during the MedTech Innovator competition finals at AdvaMed 2015. The four finalist companies will present their innovations to a panel of expert judges during the morning plenary session of AdvaMed’s annual conference on Wednesday, October 7.
“Hosting the MedTech Innovator competition at AdvaMed 2015 will spotlight the importance of start-ups to the medical technology industry,” said Ashley Wittorf, Executive Director, Emerging Growth Company Council of AdvaMed. “As the premier medical technology conference in North America, AdvaMed 2015 attracts active health care investors and senior executives from leading medtech companies, and provides an ideal forum for the competition.”
AdvaMed and RCT Ventures formed this partnership out of a shared desire to strengthen the medtech innovation ecosystem. The MedTech Innovator competition is fostering the successful innovations of tomorrow by providing early-stage medical device companies with financial support as well as broad exposure to industry and investors actively investing in early-stage medtech.
“MedTech Innovator uniquely brings key stakeholders together from the medtech industry to help identify and refine the successful products and fundable companies that meet the needs of the evolving health care system in 2015 and beyond,” said Paul Grand, Managing Director, RCT Ventures. “AdvaMed 2015 is the perfect place to highlight the new innovative companies that will be the successful medtech innovators of tomorrow.”
